Why can't a team member see a document I uploaded?

Documents are visible to all workspace members by default. If a document has restricted access, check Settings → Documents → [document name] → Access Controls. On the Business plan and above, you can limit visibility to specific roles or users, so make sure the member's role has permission to view that document.

How to check access

  1. 1

Confirm the person is a member of your workspace (Settings → Team).

  2. 2

Open Settings → Documents → [document name] → Access Controls.

  3. 3

If the document is restricted, check that the member's role, or the member themselves, has permission to view it.

  4. 4

Ask the member to try their question again. Access rules are enforced at query time, so people can't get answers from documents they aren't allowed to see.

Good to know

  • Document access controls are part of the Team Admin Panel on the Business and Enterprise plans.
  • Documents synced from Google Drive follow Google Drive permissions: if a user doesn't have access to a file in Drive, they can't query it in Docutrix. SharePoint permissions are respected in the same way.
